2024 Funny Bone
Thanks to everyone who came out to support our Funny Bone friendraiser on April 26th at The Candlelight Theatre. We appreciate GOLO and Delaware Orthopaedic Specialists for sponsoring our event. A good time was had by all as our MC, Belynda Criddell, and two comedians, Jess Carpenter and Madinah Wilson-Anton had us laughing nonstop. We enjoyed dessert, a beverage bar, the beach house raffle, a gift basket raffle and each other’s company, while realizing the value of laughter, and supporting MHA’s mission of strengthening knowledge, resources and support around mental health and recovery. Hope to see you next year!
2023 Kickin’ the Stigma Out of Mental Illness
MHA held its first Kickin’ the Stigma Out of Mental Illness kickball tournament on Saturday, June 24th at Big Oak Country Park in Smyrna, DE. A very big thank you to Marissa Bennici and Keely Arndt for all their hard work organizing this event to benefit MHA. Their dedication to the cause raised $1,007. Our new event brought together three teams and turned torrential rain and thunder into breaks of sunshine, as a good time was had by all. We hope to grow this event bigger and better for next year!
2024 Target Circle Giving Program
MHA is feeling proud and thankful for the community engagement with our Target Circle Giving program. Thanks to all who participated, we received 178,326 votes in support of our mission to strengthen knowledge, resources and support around mental health and recovery. Target has generously awarded MHA $3,509.40 based on these votes, which came from a larger pool of funds donated from Target to nonprofits in the community. A heartfelt thank you to both our voters and Target. We hope to continue this partnership.
2024 Annual One Mile An Hour
MHA is feeling thankful for Andrew Shearer and his family for partnering with us again for a very successful 7th Annual One Mile an Hour event on June 14th-15th. Approximately 45 high school and college students registered to spend the night in their tents at Appoquinimink High School in order to walk/run one mile at the top of every hour for 24 hours. Lots of other children, teen and adult drop in walkers came throughout the event to walk or run a mile, to help generate awareness for our suicide prevention initiative. A total of 901 miles were walked/ran during the 24 -hour period and approximately $6,000 was raised- bravo!! A heartfelt thanks to all the participants, donors, sponsors and of course, our fearless leader, Andrew, for another job well done!
2024 E-Racing the Blues Walks
Thanks to all those who supported our E-Racing the Blues Walks for Mental Health by walking, donating, sponsoring, forming teams and exhibiting. We had a total of 117 participants combined for our E-Racing north and south walk, and we have collectively raised over $25,000 to support our mental health and suicide prevention programs in the community. A big shout out to our 28 sponsors, 9 teams and our yoga and tai chi warm up instructors. We were fortunate to have two fun filled sunny mornings to spread the word that MHA is here to support those in need of resources and support around mental health recovery. We look forward to doing this again next year, and hope you will all be back with us, growing and evolving as we go.
